India One Solar Thermal Power Plant

Energy is one of the most important requirements for this world to function properly. Its availability and regular supply are of paramount interest. Fuel prices are rising continuously and the negative effects of global warming resulted from increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are increasingly visible.

Keeping a vision of creating a sustainable community model and using the long experience in application-oriented Research and Development activities in solar thermal technologies, in the beginning of 2017, World Renewal Spiritual Trust (WRST), a charity and sister organization of Brahma Kumaris, successfully commissioned “India One” Solar Thermal Power Plant featuring the unique thermal energy storage.

Research, Development and Demonstration

This cutting-edge research carried out by WRST in the field of developing indigenous technologies such as solar paraboloid static focus concentrator and thermal energy storage receiver, resulted in state-of-the-art features delivering solar power even after the sunset.

International Cooperation

“India One” Solar Thermal Power Plant is a good example of the multiple level cooperation from governments and non-governmental organizations, such as Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India under R&D Scheme and Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), Government of Germany within the bilateral “ComSolar” initiative through Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University.

This innovative, captive power plant supplies electricity to Brahma Kumaris headquarters in Abu Road, Rajasthan, India with total capacity of 25,000 people.
