Technical sessions were chaired by Dr R.P. Goswami, Director at MNRE, Solar Thermal Group; Dr A.K. Singhal National Project Manager of UNDP-GEF assisted CSH Project of MNRE; Sh. Bhanu Pratap Singh, CEO of Himachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (Himurja) and Mr S.K. Singh, Director of National Institute of Solar Energy, MNRE. 13 states were represented by senior officials from respective SNAs and other government bodies. All states shared their current status of CST developments, as well as challenges and plans for the future. Key actions were defined and will be followed up by the identified bodies.
There were also delegates from Ramakrishna Mission Students Home (Chennai) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (Jaipur) present at the gathering. They shared end user requirements and challenges on institutional cooking and currently used CST based systems. The challenges were addressed later on by a WRST expert presentation on direct solar cooking with the new concept of a fixed focus paraboloid dish with receiver cum heat storage with cooking surface. 4 manufacturers of various CST based systems were present at the workshop. They all shared the salient features of their respective solutions, together with case studies.
In between programs, many people approach and visit the CST Awareness Cum Training Center on regular basis. CST Technology Demonstration units serve greatly in creating awareness and understanding, which is essential in the decision making process for the entrepreneurs, institutional users and other potential beneficiaries.
